Golden Globe couldn't save Randy Quaid from the clinker

Apparently, Randy Quaid confused his Golden Globe statuette with a Get Out of Jail Free Card in the past when confronting felony charges that he and his wife, Evi, dodged paying a $10,000 hotel bill last year.
Randy Quaid arrested news.
People reports: " 'They came to court this morning hoping that Judge Ochoa would forgive them for not showing up a couple weeks ago, but the judge said they showed disrespect by prior failures to appear and by flashing Randy's Golden Globe award in court the last time around.
Santa Barbara District Attorney Arnie Tolks said, referring to the couple bringing to a hearing Randy's best-actor trophy for the 1988 miniseries 'LBJ: The Early Years.' 'They both apologized to the court, but the judge obviously didn't take it lightly.' "
The judge threw them both in jail, holding them on $100,000 bail. Maybe Quaid would've had better luck if he'd flashed an Oscar, but, alas, he's never won one. The only time he was ever nominated for 1973's "The Last Detail" he lost the race for supporting actor to John Houseman ("The Paper Chase").
