Alberta-based company has been selected to include their product, an orb-shaped nail file, in the gift bags for the Stars at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards in January. Melody Murphy, President and CEO of Jagorb International initially thought it was a hoax when she received an email from Rita Branch of Secret Room Events asking if she would like to be a gift bag sponsor.

Upon further research, Murphy discovered that Secret Room Events is responsible for the gift suites at the Golden Globe, Emmy and MTV Awards. “This was a huge surprise since our company is less than a year old,” says Murphy. “Secret Room Events is always on the lookout for new and unique products, and “The Jagorb” caught their interest when they saw it in LA Splash Magazine.”

Ricky Gervais tapped as host of Golden GlobesLOS ANGELES  British comedian Ricky Gervais has been picked as host of the Golden Globes, the first time in more than a decade that the Hollywood awards show has used an emcee. A more freewheeling affair than the Academy Awards and other Hollywood honors, the Globes are known as a place where stars can cut loose over dinner and drinks. Gervais said it was a good environment to give him free rein as host.

“I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don’t turn down,” said Gervais, who starred in HBO’s “Extras” and the original British version of “The Office.” The Globes have gone without a host since 1995, when John Larroquette and Janine Turner teamed up for the job. Globe organizers decided to do away with the host because they felt the show had enough star power with the celebrities presenting its film and TV awards.

Ricky Gervais named as the host of next years Golden Globe Awards0Ricky Gervais has been announced as the host of the Golden Globes 2010. The glittering ceremony, which has a reputation for being a big party event, has not had a set host for the past few years and instead invites different celebrities to take up the role. Gervais is said to have been singled out after his appearance at the ceremony this year when he presented an award to Kate Winslet.

The 48-year-old comedian is said to have been wooed into the idea of hosting the ceremony after producers at the Golden Globes offered him a “free rein” in his role as host. Ricky is excited at the prospect of his big gig and has already started to create some hype for the show saying “Everyone is sitting around and drinking. I’m going to be drunk, and I’m not going to rehearse. So, it’s the perfect gig for me,”

Ricky Gervais Says Golden Globes Is

October 28, 2009 |12:39 | Gossips  By : Team X

Ricky Gervais is known as an edgy comedian, and the Golden Globes are considered the least stuffy of film and television awards shows. So it's little wonder that Gervais sees his hosting job for the 2010 ceremony as a match made in Hollywood honors heaven. "Everyone is sitting around and drinking. I'm going to be drunk, and I'm not going to rehearse. So, it's the perfect gig for me," Gervais told Reuters on Tuesday, with a laugh.

The Golden Globe Awards, which will be given out on January 17, 2010, are one of Hollywood's biggest awards show, but the atmosphere is less formal than the film industry's Oscars or TV's Emmys. Winners in both film and TV categories, who are picked by members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, are named after a fine dinner where cocktails and champagne flow freely, and the ceremony is often dubbed Hollywood's biggest party.

Ricky Gervais to host Golden Globes

October 28, 2009 |12:36 | Gossips  By : Team X

Ricky Gervais to host Golden GlobesSIX years after Ricky Gervais caused an upset at The Golden Globes – when The Office beat better known programs such as Arrested Development and Sex and the City for the best comedy trophy and Gervais was named best comedy actor – the British comedian will return to host the awards on January 17, according to Variety. It will be the first time since 1995 that the show has had a host. The organisers hired Gervais because of his appearance as a presenter last year when he teased The Reader star Kate Winslet about finally winning her first statuette from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. "I told you. Do a Holocaust movie and the awards come. Didn't I?"

Gervais said he had resisted similar offers but the Globes offered him a chance for "free rein as a host." In an interview with The New York Times in March the comedian cited his reluctance to do award shows, specifically the Academy Awards, describing it as a "thankless task for a comedian". Either way, his hiring will be an improvement on last year's show, at which, because of the writers' strike, a list of winners was merely read out.

"Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host," said Gervais. "I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are some things you don't turn down."

Hosting a big-time award ceremony such as the Globes appears to be a golden opportunity, excusing the pun, but that wasn't always the case for Gervais. In a March interview with The New York Times, the comedian spoke about his qualms against hosting award ceremonies — specifically the Academy Awards, which he cited as an opportunity with nothing but risks.

Laura Dern Becoming a Focker in 'Meet the Parents' Sequel

October 20, 2009 |12:55 | Gossips  By : Team X

Laura Dern Becoming a Focker in 'Meet the Parents' SequelThe Focker family of 'Meet the Parents' fame just keeps expanding its dysfunctional circle: Now, they've ensnared Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Laura Dern.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures and Tribeca Productions has signed the actress to appear in the series' third installment, tentatively titled 'Little Fockers.' 'American Pie' director Paul Weitz will attempt to control the cast, which brings back "Focker" regulars Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Teri Polo, Blythe Danner and Owen Wilson, plus newcomer Jessica Alba for a summer 2010 release.

Dern, who was nominated for an Academy Award for 1991's 'Rambling Rose' and won a Golden Globe for 'Recount,' is slated to play the headmistress of the Focker kids' elementary school. We're betting the school curriculum includes home security surveillance, fire safety and pet disposal.

And even though the kids' dad is a nurse, let's hope a big chunk of the day is spent on first aid training-if the little Fockers go anywhere near a volleyball game, they're going to need it.

'Mad Men's' January Jones found success despite ex-boyfriend Ashton Kutcher thinking she would fail"Mad Men" star January Jones says ex-boyfriend, Ashton Kutcher, told her she shouldn't be an actress.

"[He] was not supportive of my acting," she said in an interview in the November issue of GQ magazine. "He was like, 'I don't think you're going to be good at this.'"

And what does her Mr. Demi Moore say now that she is a Golden Globe-nominated actress who plays Betty Draper on the wildly popular "Mad Men" series?

"He only has nice things to say now — if anything, I should thank him," she told GQ. "Because the minute you tell me I can't do something, that's when I'm most motivated.

Actress Jane Seymour puts her whole heart into her art

October 15, 2009 |14:27 | Gossips  By : Team X

Actress Jane Seymour puts her whole heart into her artThe Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress will be at The Woodlands Mall this weekend to promote her watercolors, oil paintings, bronze sculptures and accessories, and she'll also autograph her latest book, Open Hearts.

Not to worry. Folks who would rather talk to her about her fabulous acting career, or movie stars she has known and admired, will have the chance to do that, too.

The Chronicle caught up with Seymour, 58, just before her visit here.

Q: How did you get your start?

A: I wanted to be a dancer, but when I was young I was kicked out of class because I had flat feet and a speech impediment. I couldn't pronounce my r's.

So I was put in a special remedial dance class and in voice training.

Later on in my career, I specialized in languages, and I was always doing accents. The funny part is, the two things I was not so good at turned out to be blessings. That's the story of my life.
