Every year The Hollywood Foreign Press Association hands out The Golden Globes to the best films and performances over the last 365 days. And every year actors campaign shamelessly to be one of the few singled out. Now, I don't want to say that their votes can be bought, but The HFPA (comprised of overseas journalists) are easily charmed by a pretty girl or a cool guy.

So the luncheons they hold throughout the year, such as yesterday's, become a time for stars to stump hardcore. You know, so when it comes time for the members to cast a ballot, their check mark gets placed next to Chris Pine's name in the Best Actor, Drama category. Not because his performance in "Star Trek" was one of the year's five best, but because he told a killer story about some hookers in Vegas that cracked up the male HFPA members.
